Americans are flocking to gun stores, setting record sales of guns and ammunition; and applications for concealed carry permits have skyrocketed in the past 30 days or so. None of this is ‘news’ to me: I have said all along that the harder our FedGov tries to limit our freedoms, the more the ‘average’ citizen will recognize the need to defend himself.
Some Recent Headlines:
The number of FBI background checks required for Americans buying guns set a record in December, indicating that more people may purchase one after the Connecticut school massacre stirred interest in self-defense and prompted renewed talk of limits on firearms, according to FBI data.
The FBI said it recorded 2.78 million background checks during the month, surpassing the mark set in November of 2.01 million checks – about a 39 percent rise.
As Washington focuses on what Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. will propose next week to curb gun violence, gun and ammunition sales are spiking in the rest of the country as people rush to expand their arsenals in advance of any restrictions that might be imposed.
Gun sales in California are booming. More than 600,000 were sold in 2011. However by last year, sales had jumped to 817,000. That’s an increase of 36 percent. But we noticed the number of people wounded by gunfire is dropping.
This is remarkably different from what we normally expect from our unbiased heroes reporting for the Mainstream Media:
I’d say it’s almost refreshing, but I fear there’s an underlying agenda.
We know that what used to be the universal “assault rifle,” the AK-47 — demonized by the media as the rifle of choice of all the bad guys of the world — will be replaced by the civilian’s ‘military-style’ AR-15. Every news hound seems to want to try one out: so they bring their film crews to gun ranges, get ten minutes of instruction, and document their experience. And they blast away. And guess what? They can actually hit their target (albeit at 10 yards, with optics mounted on weapon … but still).
So we will see these rifles demonized, but simultaneously idolized by these presstitutes, who sill say stuff like:
getting some serious training the use & safety of this gun only a few minutes instruction, I could hit my target with almost every shot. These things are cool dangerous, and have to be banned, because I some nut could use them to shoot stuff I’m pissed off at innocent victims.”
But never mind that, let’s consider the Unintended Consequences of our current administration’s efforts to reign in their subjects’ rights (that’s us).
